Our son is a budding magician, and after searching around and reading all the positive reviews, we had high hopes for this magic box. However, we were very disappointed when it arrived.
The box looks impressive before you open it, but almost all the contents turned out to be things we already have at home: a pen, notepad, some shiny cups, some colorful silks, a napkin, some ash in a small container, a regular set of cards.
The only things that are something new are: a special magic set of cards, a stick of "wax" and a fake thumb (which is much too large for my 8-year-old son) – obviously not something worth almost $40! The box is mainly filled with foam materials to keep all the contents in place.
There is a CD with instructional videos that are already available online (though I can't say for sure, as we no longer have a way to watch a CD).
Within moments of opening the box, my son went from great enthusiasm to holding back tears (this was the first purchase he had saved up his own money to make).
I have been trying to get in touch with the company to ask them to send a return label, but after several days have not gotten any response to my messages. So now the lack of customer service is an additional concern.
When I look closer at the Breaking Games website, I see that all the stellar reviews were submitted in the same month (May 2017) so unfortunately I suspect they are not actual reviews – now I feel I have been fooled.
I would not recommend this magic box to anyone, and have serious questions about the company and how they do business.
I have two sons (age 4 and 8). They could not wait to open the Big Box of Magic and had been excited about it ever since seeing a promotional video on YouTube. The items in the box are great and easy to use. What surprised me was just how many tricks you can learn with just this one box. I expected to be able to do five or ten tricks but you can perform many more. And the instructional video is great, especially for kids, because you get to see exactly what you need to do to perform the trick correctly. My 8 year old was performing magic tricks for his mom literally ten minutes after opening the box. I recommend this highly, and it would also make a great gift. It is, indeed, amazing.
I got this on Kickstarter because the video had me laughing.
The BigBoxOfMagic is NO JOKE though! My husband had our 4 kids and 2 neighbors at home while we had ladies night out.
All we are hearing about is the "MAGIC SHOW" Mark put on.
Next up...YouTube videos of our new MagicMan.
A well thought out surprise gift.
5 STAR
I was surprised just how easy it was to start learning magic. I don't like reading manuals, so the instructional video really fit for a guy like me. While it was really fun learning how to do the tricks, I was shocked how well they worked!
The saying is 100% true. I got the big box in the morning and by lunch I was performing tricks that amazed my kids. This product is made of the highest quality parts and a real great value.
